An ELA Unit with Over 200 Book Options!?! (ep. 59)

In this episode, Stephanie Pueppka and Stephanie Heitmann share their vision for and implementation of a nonfiction unit in their English 1 Honors class that afforded learners their choice in which book they read. In order to support learners with this freedom, they compiled a list of 200+ books, complete with links as to where to buy or check out those texts. The obvious challenge posed by this level of content choice is asking learners to complete common formative and summative assignments, some of which require collaboration. This pod shares an innovative approach to personalization, and Steph and Steph’s insights and reflections are valuable to anyone looking to design a learning experience similar to the one they created.
